Mr. Li- C3-C5 Cervical Cord Injury, High Paraplegia (Male,58 years old)- 2010

Mr. Li is a Chinese 58 years old male patient suffering from spinal cord injury. He was admitted to our hospital on October 11th, 2010. He happened to undergo a car crash on February 15th, 2007. When falling down, the back of his head landed down, he suddenly felt cervical pain, his body beneath his neck and 4 limbs could not move, no sensation beneath his neck, still alert, no vomiting, no spasm of his 4 limbs with incontinence of urination and bowl movement. Then he was sent to local hospital to be diagnosed as C3-C5 disintegration of bones, cervical cord injury with high paraplegia.

Before the stem cell treatment:
- The sensation of pain, temperature, touching beneath the sterna angle level was decreased, the sensation of distinguishing between 2 points, picture shape and location was lost;
- He can lift up his upper limbs to his chest level, the spasm of his both hands was apparent, so that his hands could not move; his lower limbs beneath knee level could move slightly.

He received the stem cell treatment including 1 stem cell transplantation via CT guided intraspinal cord injection, 3 stem cell injections via lumbar puncture during 15 days treatment period.

After the stem cell treatment:
- The sensation of pain, temperature, touching beneath the sterna angle level is improved obviously, the sensation of distinguishing between 2 points, picture shape and location is improved obviously;
- He can lift up his upper limbs to his nose level, the spasm of his both hands is relieved obviously; he can lift up his knees.
