Kevin (Russia) – Cerebral Palsy (Male, 1 year 7 months) – 2015

Kevin, a 1 year and 7 months old boy, who is born in Russia. He was diagnosed with sequelae of hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy, cerebral palsy, epilepsy. Kevin received the stem cell treatment in General Hospital of Chinese People’s Armed Police Forces on July 6, 2015.

Medical History: He was a full-term infant. Local doctors did not deliver him when his mother was in perinatal period, so that Kevin spent more 14 hours in womb, during this period, his mother only got intravenous infusion, giving result in cord around neck, and hypoxia of Kevin. After 14 hours, caesarean section was performed. At that time, Kevin had cardiopulmonary arrest, after resuscitation treatment, his heart rate became normal, but he had to breathe with the assistance ventilator. When he was three months old, he was done with tracheotomy. He was diagnosed with epilepsy and cerebral palsy.

Physical condition before treatment
He had no response to sound and light.
Both hands are made in fist all the time, and it is highly different to separate the fingers.
The muscle tension of both legs is high. Both knees always tightly close together, which leads to bruising.

On the fourth day after the first lumbar puncture, when his mother called his name, he already had reaction to the sound.
After the second lumbar puncture, the muscle tension of both hands is lower than before. He was able to grab and hold two pens.
After the third lumbar puncture, the muscle tension of both legs is improved much better than before. He could sit on his mother’s leg.
