Edwar (Indonesia)- Spinal Cord Injury with Paraplegia (Male,28 years old)- 2012

SCI-Indonesia-EdwarEdwar is an Indonesia 28 years old male patient suffering from spinal cord injury with paraplegia. He was admitted to our hospital for the chief complaint of the movement dysfunction of his lower limbs with incontinence of urination and bowl movement for over 1 year after the accident. Since he was stabbed to his back neck by knife, he suddenly felt the sensation of the whole body below his chest lost, movement dysfunction of his lower limbs and incontinence of urination and bowl movement at that time. The urgent MRI of his neck indicated: spinal cord injury of T4-T6. He received physical rehabilitation therapy and nerve nutrition treatment from then on.

He received a round stem cell treatment including 1 stem cell transplantation via CT guided intraspinal injection, 1 stem cell injection via lumbar puncture and 1 stem cell implantation via femoral artery intervene injection in our hospital on February 29th, 2012.

Before the stem cell treatment:
- The muscular tension of his lower limbs was higher than normal;
- The muscle strength of his lower limbs was weak, the motor ability of his lower limbs was poor;
- The sensation below his chest was lost; the body temperature below his chest was abnormal;
- He suffered from incontinence of urination and bowl movement.

After the stem cell treatment:
- The muscular tension of his lower limbs is normal;
- The muscle strength of his lower limbs is improved obviously, the motor ability of his lower limbs is improved obviously;
- The sensation level is lowered obviously, the body temperature below his chest is normal;
- He can perceive and control the urination and bowl movement much better.
